Naples Beach

Upscale, palm-lined, and quieter than anything else on the Gulf's southern end.

• • •

Naples is the calm one. No boardwalk, no Ferris wheel, no neon. The main beach runs along Gulf Shore Boulevard — a long palm-lined street with pastel beach houses and the occasional grand hotel. Walk north or south from the Naples Pier and within fifteen minutes you're alone on the sand.

The pier itself is the spot. Anglers in the morning, paddleboarders by noon, sunset-watchers by six. The Gulf sunsets from here are some of the best in Florida, no exaggeration.

Fifth Avenue South, a few blocks inland, has the kind of restaurants people fly in for. Plan one dinner there and call it.

Practical notes

  • Best time to go: November–April
  • Parking: Metered along Gulf Shore Blvd, or the pier lot
